I feel that my strengths in group work are persistence and collaboration. I feel that I am strong in persistence because no matter how hard the challenge or how hard the project is, I feel that I will just keep going with it no matter how stressful it is or if I am having a hard time dealing with people in my group, I will just keep going. For example, my rube goldberg project was hard to do because I was gone for half of the project and it was sometimes hard to collaborate with my group, but I feel that I persisted through that and was able to get most of the work done so far.
I feel that my other strength is collaboration because when I am with my group I feel that when I am with my group I will try to do something as to work if I am not doing anything. I will agree with my group members most of the time and ask if I need to do something or I will try to collaborate with my group if anything needs fixing or if we need to get the task done. I feel that one of my weakness is leadership, because I am so quiet and don’t talk much it is hard for me to speak out in order to get my group to work. I feel that If I am bossy or trying to get my group on task that my group members won’t listen and I have to do the work by myself. My other weakness is critical thinking because sometimes I won’t speak up and address the issue if there is one. I won’t speak out and tell my group that there is an issue going on because again there is the leadership part of that and I have trouble being a leader. I also don’t like judging people if there is something in my group that there aren’t doing or that they are doing wrong. I feel that sometimes I don’t speak up or give my opinion because I am so quiet, it is always because I won’t going against something that the group leader says so I have trouble critical thinking.

What I would like to see happen in this project, is I would like to see it help the parents and public learn about socialization and have it being able to help them get a good understanding of it. I would also like to see the students in this class being able to be proud of this project no matter what happens with it, even if it doesn’t go as well as we planned. What I would also like to see happen is I would like to see everyone working and putting their own ideas of creation into the project.
What I would like to hear a parent say at the exhibition is “This exhibition not only helped me get a better understanding of this project, but also helped the public and our kids get a good understanding of it,” What I would like a sociology professor say about the project is I would like to hear them say something like, “I think that these kids demonstrated a very good understanding of sociology, and helped me learn about it from their perspective, but also helped others as well.” How we make sure that we are presenting accurate information is we go over our research and maybe ask teachers if what we are saying is right before the exhibition. What we have been doing lately is planning for our exhibition and getting our ideas out in order to plan our exhibition and have it be successful. We recently were in groups and planned our ideas on a piece of paper and exhibited it in the hallway. After a few days we got feedback and fixed what needed to be fixed and sent an email for feedback to the public. What this exhibition is about is socialization, how people have been stereotyped and you have been stereotyped for the person you are. For this project we wrote essays on how the stereotypes have affected us and other people who have been stereotyped the same way. We also made masks, to show how we have been stereotyped and how we could also break those stereotypes.
The problem that this exhibition is trying to address is socialization. This exhibition is trying to teach people of the public and our parents about how socialization affects us and giving them ideas of how we could break the cycle. This is also showing how we have been stereotyped and how we should be able to break the cycle of socialization and get others to have that idea too. What I am excited for in this exhibition is to be able to help design this exhibition even though it wasn’t my idea, I feel that it would be cool to help someone with their idea and helping them achieve that goal in order for all of us to be successful. I am excited for helping with designing this project not only because I am excited for his exhibition, but because I like to design things like exhibitions and getting the idea out there and getting it open to the public. What I want to work on is design because I feel like it could improve my design skills and I feel like I could help a lot with it because I like designing things like this and I like how the teachers are letting us design our own exhibition. If design is not open I am also hoping to work on with helping with fundraising. Reflection that I have based on the two weeks of school recently is I feel that letting us design our own idea for the exhibition was really awesome, I feel that maybe if we had more time in sending our email we could have gotten more feedback. For my group, maybe if I was there for most of the time because I was gone maybe we could have gotten a lot more done and I would have been able to help more in knowing what we were doing. How this will help me with new group is because I probably won’t be gone is this will help me because then this will give me the courage to speak up to my ideas and letting other people speak out as well. If we all giving our ideas we could collaborate more and hopefully all the people in the group will be happy with our outcome of our work. |
