The Ethics and Chemistry of Food and Cooking Reflection
In this project we explored where our food comes from and what it takes to get to our plate. We read a book called, "The Omnivore's Dilemma by Micheal Pollan in our Humanities class. In our chemistry class, seeing as this was a combined project where we learned about food in different aspects from the ethical and scientific point of view. In chemistry we learned about how cooking affects the chemical aspect of food and what happens with the chemistry of food and the proportions when it comes to having proportions when making a recipe and how the ingredients will bond. In Chemistry we also learned about proportions of food so that they can bond correctly. We were to make a recipe card and make, cook, or bake something and figure out the chemical process of what happens after the food item is made or cooked or baked.
How the interdisciplinary nature piece impacted my learning would be that while learning about where food comes from and the process that a lot of food has to go through, while also researching what happens to food when it is cooked was very interesting. Going on the field trip was also very interesting and was educational and interesting to learn about. I think that how this impacted my learning was it was interesting to learn one topic in two different ways, but it was also sometimes very at some points boring to learn about one topic for a long time. As interesting as it was I think that it was good to learn about food at the same time in two different ways.
I think that some of my takeaways from learning about studying food academically and how it has impacted me would be that I have been able to think about food in a different way and to know where it comes from. I was able to know how our food is processed and what where it comes from and about local and industrial farming. I was able to learn about sugar and the truth about it and how marketing it does to our society. It was really interesting to learn about and it made me think about food in a different way and impacted me to want to healthier and just be more aware of what I am eating. How my thinking has changed when we were done with this project I have decided to be more aware of the sugar intake I have and was not eating sugar for a bit, but also being aware of where the food I eat comes from and how it gets there. I think that it is really important and I'm glad I'm more aware of it because I really didn't know about different types of farming and what type of farming is better for us. I think another thing that I was able to take away from this project is how bad certain types of foods are for us, and how bad sugar is for us, so I decided to make an adjustment to my life and to eat less sugar.

Your Life on Earth: Philosophizing your Purpose and Place in the 21rst Century Reflection
For this project we were told to write about and have an image that described our philosophy and what we believed. For this project I took it in the direction of what my purpose is on the Earth and applying to the whole population. I discovered that in the end I believed that our purpose in this life is to impact people in some certain way, like being able to make someone smile or laugh, teaching them lessons about life. Being able to be open about emotions, but also sometimes having someone hurting you or someone that you lost could impact you too. So we as people present some type of influence to people we have five second conversations with,or someone who we have known all our lives. My inspiration behind this insight is when you do talk to people you get more insight into each other, depending on how much you talk to each other. I have had lots of conversations with people that have led me to become open and sometimes getting hurt and learning from that. I believe that things that you experience you learn from and you taught life lessons when something happens in your life that could be major or minor. I developed this perspective because it was something that I realized when looking back at the past and realizing what I learned from those experiences from people who were my friends and from people who have hurt me.
Some little insights that I have realized over the course of this project would be that we as people impact the people that we meet. We can affect people mentally and emotionally. We can give advice to others about life and how we all experience life through our eyes and 'walking through others shoes'. We should be able to listen and try to understand. What the study of philosophy and ethics has made me realize is that we do have a purpose, even if it isn't defined by religion or if it doesn't come to us right away. I think that we all have many different purposes in life, just as simple as making a friend laugh or even going as far as saving someone's life. This is what I mean when I say that we impact each other in different ways, we wouldn't really have much purpose if we didn't impact each other. Texts that have influenced me and my philosophy during this project would be in, "Into the Wild." Chris McCandles realizes that in order to have love or know what love, is you have to share it with someone. I think that is really important to my philosophy because you are sharing something with someone else, and that is impacting two people at one time. Another source from what gave me the idea about my philosophy would be that when reading "A Tale for the Time Being," near the end of the book, her great grandmother teaches her and her father to live, which is one way that people impact each other, to teach us life lessons, and to sometimes when times are bad to give reasons to live and how to enjoy life no matter what happens.
I think that other questions that I have for my philosophy and my existence and for this project in general would be:
1. Would it be possible for everyone in the world to be able to understand each other to the point of where we understand someone's actions and why they performed them?
2. When will there be a time where we can recognize someone's emotions whether that person is sad or happy or angry, can we just recognize and not judge or think that a certain emotion is a bad thing?
3. We all have a line of where what we think is right and wrong, so can we ever really agree on what is right and what is wrong?
4. Are we destined to be like our parents, and how can we get away from that without having our actions defined by what we grew up with and are able to make our own decisions?
5. What would our purpose be without human interaction?
6. Why is happiness so important to society?

Philosophy Art Piece and Written Component
Labor Project
In this project we studied the Industrial Revolution and studied one of history's biggest labor issues. When studying this and getting background knowledge, we were then moved onto the main project, making podcasts about modern labor issues. My group studied small local businesses and how they effect the economy. When studying this, we made a podcast and had a handful interviews, interviewing local business owners and how they effect our town and it's economy. So the point of this was to learn about a labor issue in the past and how that effected and then learn about a modern labor issue and make a podcast about it.
